FAQs
Do I need to turn the lights on before charging?
Yes. Turn the power switch on after installation. The solar pond light system must remain switched on to charge during the day and illuminate automatically at night.
Will the solar pond light stay on during the daytime?
No. The built-in light sensor is designed to keep the lights off while the solar panel is receiving sufficient light. They turn on automatically in dark or low-light conditions.
Do these solar underwater pond lights include a remote control or timer?
No remote control or separate timer is included. Lighting modes are selected using the button on the control box of the solar panel, while the built-in light sensor controls automatic daytime charging and nighttime illumination.
How long does the solar panel need to charge?
For the best performance, allow approximately six hours of strong, direct sunlight. Charging time may be longer during cloudy weather, winter, or when the panel is partially shaded.
How long do the solar underwater pond lights stay on after a full charge?
After approximately 6–7 hours of direct sunlight charging, the lights can provide up to approximately 20 hours of illumination in low-brightness mode. Actual illumination time may vary depending on sunlight intensity, weather conditions, season, and installation location.
Will the solar underwater pond lights work on cloudy or rainy days?
Yes, but the battery may receive less energy, resulting in dimmer light or a shorter operating time at night. Position the solar panel where it can receive as much unobstructed sunlight as possible.
What is the best position for the solar panel?
Place the solar panel outdoors in direct sunlight without shade from trees, buildings or other objects. It is recommended to position the panel at approximately a 20 to 30 degree angle for effective solar exposure.
Can the solar panel be placed underwater?
No. Only the waterproof light heads should be submerged. Install the solar panel above the water, either with the ground stake or on a wall, where the panel can receive direct sunlight.
Can the lights also be used outside the water?
Yes. The solar underwater pond lights have an amphibious design and may be used either underwater or above water. They can illuminate ponds, waterfalls, garden plants, pathways, patios and landscape features.
How long are the cables?
The cable from the solar panel unit to the first light is approximately 9.8 ft/3 m. The distance between each light head is approximately 3.3 ft/1 m, giving a total cable arrangement of about 16.4 ft/5 m. This allows the three heads to be positioned around different areas of a pond or landscape.
Why is the solar pond light dim or turning off earlier than expected?
This usually means the battery did not receive enough sunlight during the day. Clean the solar panel and move it to a sunnier location. Cloudy weather, winter sunlight, shade and accumulated dirt can all reduce charging performance.
Can I leave these lights outside all year?
Yes. These solar underwater pond lights are designed for year-round outdoor use. In extreme weather conditions, keep the solar panel clean and bring the lights indoors when necessary to extend their service life.
